I have been back in training since I got home, and my first competition was on 17th July at Thames Valley for Special Olympics. It was nice to catch up with some of the other athletes who had been out to Athens and our Coach Tony.

I did two events:

Longjump – winning with a jump of 2.65
200m – Second with a time of 32.8

Pleased with my events and how they went.

Bye for now

This was our last training camp for the whole team, we trained on Saturday, had a disco in the evening and then on Sunday we had team photographs.

Everybody is really excited and wants to do there best for GB.   I am a little nervous but looking forward to seeing all the team  in Athens.

Although this was our last “Team” training session I am still doing my three weekly training sessions with my coaches Bryn and James at Cambridge and Coleridge AC.

Today I competed at Disability Sport England (DSE) regional championships in Ipswich. I Won 3 gold medals in the 100m, 200m and the long jump.

I would like to say a big thank you to Steve at DE sport for allowing me to put the pictures they took on my blog for you to share

On Saturday I took part in the first club match of the season for Cambridge & Coleridge Athletics Club.  It was a Southern Womens League match at the Dow Track in Kings Lynn in Norfolk.

I took part in the long jump, the 100m, 200m, the shot putt and the 4x100m relay.   It was a sunny but very windy day.

No great times but a good run out for the club and nice to be part of the team.

Sunday 3 April saw me competing in the SOGB London Indoor Games at the Lee Valley Indoor Athletics track in North London (one of my favourite venues).  I competed in the 60m and 200m sprints and succeeded in winning both events. It was a tough competition – with many of the athletes there from the National Games in Leicester in 2009.

I met some of the East Anglian team that I was with when I went to Leicester, it was nice to see team manager Ellen again.

Sunday 20 March was my first competition of the 2011 season in the SOGB Southern Region Championship at the Thames Valley Athletics Centre in Eton.

I competed in the 60m sprint and came second, to my World Games team mate Vicky, in a time of 9.7 sec and third in the long jump with a jump of 2.62 m.   Need to work hard at my long jump ready for World Games in the summer.

Silver and Bronze Medals

Sunday 8 August 2010 saw my last competition before the World Games for Athletes with Down Syndrome in Mexico.  A very hot day in Norfolk saw me running for Cambridge and Coleridge Athletics Club at the University of East Anglia’s Sport City track in Norwich in an East Anglian Athletics League match.

I competed as a non scorer in the 100m and 200m for the club.  It was a good competition although not my quickest times – but a good run out before my big competition in Mexico.

UEA Sport City Track - my last competition before Mexico

Next stop Mexico.  Mum and I leave for Mexico flying from Heathrow via the US on the  1st September.  Please watch this space for updates throughout the competition in Mexico.

Thank you to all my friends and family for your support, I will do my best in Mexico to repay everyone’s generosity.

Saturday 3 July and Sunday 4 July saw us make our annual trip to the Disability Sport England National Junior Athletic Championship at Stanley Park in Blackpool.  I competed as part of the Eastern Region team and the competition included events for wheelchair athletes, athletes with mobility problems, partially sighted and deaf athletes as well as athletes with a learning disability.

I competed in the 100m on the Saturday and the 200m on the Sunday.

It was a hot and sunny day on the Saturday and I was successful in the 100m winning the Gold medal in a time of 15.6sec.  The weather turned colder on the Sunday with rain and a very strong head wind on the home straight but I still managed to win the 200m in a rather slow time of 34.8seconds.

Double Gold medals in the 100m and 200m

It was a successful weekend for the Eastern Region team as well, winning the overall competition, we have a fantastic manager Richard Hunt.  I will really miss being part of the team as this is my last year as a junior so it was good finish on a high.   This will also be the last year that dad spends his birthday in Blackpool.

Disability Sport England is a really good organisation to compete in you can see what they do on there web page http://www.disabilitysport.org.uk/

Next stop Mexico in September.

Saturday 26 June 2010 saw us at Sportcity in Manchester at the Regional Athletics Arena for the MENCAP National Athletics Championships.

The athletics arena is in the shadow of the Eastlands Stadium the home of Manchester City Football Club and the site of the 2002 Commonwealth Games.

I competed in the 100m and 200m sprints and would find myself up against athlethes that would represent GB in the European Championships in Croatia this summer.

I raced in an event for athletes Under 20 years of age but would also find myself competing against Senior Ladies (those over 20 years old).  I came second in both the 100m and the 200m on both occasions being beaten by Holly who races for Norwich Athletics Club and who will represent GB in Croatia this summer.

Two silver medals in the 100m and 200m - a good start to the season

I ran the 100m in 15.7 sec and the 200m in 33.63 sec.  Not my fastest times but a good start to the season.

Next week Blackpool for the Disability Sport England National Championships.
